Cat powered Kansas critter at auction
Author: LocoPilot750

A very well mantained, clean GE 44 tonner coming up on a Purple Wave auction. It's one of two they are auctionig off. They are the plant switchers at the KP&L power plant east of Topeka, KS. They look to be in good condition, one currently has a $1000.00 bid, $500 on the other one.  Might be worth a look.

Siderods are a clue and an included photo of the remanufacturer's plate says it is a  300 hp GE 45-tonner with a 150 hp Cat engine at either end.

I forgot about the auction, but both units sold, no idea who bought them. The good one with the CAT engines brought $22,500 and the other one with the Cummins engines and the bad batteries brought $7250 (If I remember right)
