Montana Rail Link - Bad Weather on Bozeman Pass
Author: tehachapi-dave

More from the MRL!  Our day on Bozeman Pass dawned dreary as we waited in Livingston for a westbound to mount the grade.  Our first train of the day was a westbound grainer led by BNSF 4667 and a MRL helper set behind the DPU.  We followed the train up the grade in the worsening weather towards the summit at Muir before it disappeared into the rain and fog.  Enjoy!

Really interesting seeing the FRED on the rear of the Helper Set (Flashing). I've never seen that on the MRL.

The FRED is so the engineer on the train can dump the air on the helper if he dumps the air on the train.

Great video!  The third scene with the dense fog was my favorite.

Remember when SD-45's were considered big?  Now they look small next to SD-70's.
