Western Railroad Discussion > Recent Photos - W. Winslow, AZ Sunset & Tehachapi Drone ShotDate: 12/05/18 10:20 Recent Photos - W. Winslow, AZ Sunset & Tehachapi Drone Shot Author: RayLewis Sometimes, I find a location and I will try countless times to get the shot I originally envision. Alot of times I dont get what I am looking for ever, but I end up with results I cannot complain too much about. A good example is the famous shot from the overpass at W. Winslow, AZ. For years I have set up for sunset shots here and just never came away fully satisfied. This year, the AZ monsoon season did not disaoppoint and on a late August afternoon as the day's storm breaks up the state of AZ put on a show. As the sun continued to set a eastbound z train rolls into W. Winslow while way off in the distance a grain train waits its turn. The cherry on top is the sun was in and out, and broke out just as the train came into position. Cant be mad at this scene at all!
The second shot comes from a format I thought I would never get into. However, I finally pulled the trigger. I have had a lot of success with the drone, especially on the BNSF Phoenix sub, however I did get a chance to try it out on the railroad that I grew up next to. On a cold October morning the fog is lifting and the clouds are breaking, letting sunlight in to illuminate the locomotives enough to make the photo interesting. Of course...taken at the Tehachapi loop on the UP Mojave sub. Ray Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/05/18 12:48 by RayLewis. Date: 12/05/18 10:26 Re: Recent Photos - W. ALL hoped-for things will come to you Who have the strength to watch and wait, Our longings spur the steeds of Fate, This has been said by one who knew.... 'Ah, all things come to those who wait,' (I say these words to make me glad), But something answers soft and sad, 'They come, but often come too late. Date: 12/05/18 11:30 Re: Recent Photos - W. Thank you Sir (or Madam) for quoting these two stanzas of Baroness Curie's fine poem. You "made my day." Had never heard of her. Downloaded a book of her poems. Excellent. Mark Austin TX |
