This past Sunday I met up with a friend who noticed that the Oil Cans (Union Pacific Long Beach CA to Wunpost CA empty unit train) were getting ready to leave, meaning a rare daylight northbound run. This train is rumored to be coming off forever on December 10. (I don't know this to be true, just that it is reported.) With the last four or five Amtrak F59PHIs also possibly running their very last days, it seemed like a good day to head out to the Coast line.

Image one is of the northbound A1767 Surfliner heading west of Van Nuys, CA.

Image two is of the ODOWP Oil Cans going around the first curve in Chatsworth.

Image three is the southbound A782 Surfliner shoving through Black Canyon in Simi Valley, CA.

Image four is at Black Canyon in Simi Valley as the Oil Cans start up again.

Images five and six are in Ventura CA's Emma Wood Park as the train hugs the ocean.

Image seven is the can cars themselves heading away. Hope this isn't my last time seeing this train.

Boy, Did the kids love those rocks. They fit in their  hands and would break a few windows on the Smokie and the Zipper.
