Could be the most photographed train of the 21st Century based on the crowds shown trackside along the route. Well done UP.

What a fine looking set up. Engine crew must have been crazy scared, all those folks running around. They too excelled. d

And I thank you for the last photo as I had seen the drumhead on the Lone Star but couldn't make it out until your photo. The UP put out a drumhead with the presidential seal. Another valiant gesture. That should either go to the George H.W.Bush Library or the UP museum in Council Bluffs as a reminder of the funeral train that ran in 2018, some 60 years after the last funeral train carried a president.

Serial nitpicker that I am, I wondered what happened to the 1943? However, the 9096 was a good substitute. If you think about it for a little bit, 8892 or 8993 might have been a little more appropriate. The former were the years Bush was elected to office and the altter were the years he actually served. However, this does not detract from what the UP did. Nick Tharalson, Marion, IA Date: 12/07/18 08:52 Re: UP 4141 Departing Spring, Texas (Dec 6, 2018) Author: RailRat A very fitting funeral train, something we certainly don't see everyday.
And Thanks for the exellent video and pictures! I think the most moving part is the fact that many folks took the time to grab a US flag to wave at the passing train. Especially appreciate your post here, because I couldn't get any live video feeds to work properly yesterday, the websites were probably overloaded, plus I currently don't have cable or satellite service.
