The George H.W. Bush locomotive No. 4141 and a 21-car Union Pacific passenger car consist has been traveling northbound from southern Texas, and through Oklahoma, Kansas and Nebraska during much of the last 24-hour period.

Thanks to a heads-up from a couple of friends, I managed to position myself at trackside in Leavenwroth, Kan., today, Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, to observe the train traveling the former Missouri Pacific Railroad Missouri River Route. The train passed my location at exactly 11 a.m.

As has been previously mentioned, Engine 4141 and the Council Bluffs baggage car will go on public display in Omaha on Sunday. The display will continue through Wednesday.

Bellevue NE, around 4pm, as the shadows begin to grow. Had a lenghty delay just south of here due to a MOW issue on its route/

I see the door is closed on the baggage car Council Bluffs that carried the casket.

What a week it has been. The door truly has been closed on this special long-distance activity by the U.P. , which was years in the planning.  Only the Sunday-Wednesday public display of the 4141 locomotive and baggage car in Omaha remains

In future years, we can all recall the memories of the life and times of George H.W. Bush and the "final ride" that he took on Dec. 6, 2018, by making a special visit his presidential library and museum in College Station, Texas.

Anyone have the approximate length of the two 21-car trains, with two engine units, traveling back and forth between Omaha and south Texas during the past six days?

There was only one train which left and returned to Council Bluffs IA. It had 21 cars and was split into two trains;11 for the funeral train and 10 for the press/support staff train. As to train length, I don't know..
