Montana Rail Link in Sepetmber

September found me once again after a trip in June.  Here are a few photos from a day along the Montana Rail Link's Mullan Pass.

1: Helena is quite full, with three westbound road trains, a yard crew, and two helper sets at the west end. 
2: An MRL helper set works mid-train on a BNSF grain train on the single track east of Austin.
3: The DPU of the same train is seen at Skyline passing an MRL work train.

4: The MRL work train continues their trip east.  
5: After working upgrade separetly, two MRL helper sets drift downgrade as one at Austin.  35,200 HP in one photo!
6: Next up was a WB BNSF with new Boing 737 Fuelsalges behind the power.

7: The power and planes now traverses Greenhorn trestle on Mullan Pass
8: A BNSF coal train crosses the Greenhorn trestle from a different perspective.  
9: Another coal train works upgrade at Skyline

10: With golden light, another grain train works towards summit.
11: The MRL units dig in as they pass Skyline

Good stuff!  The late afternoon shots with the long shadows reminded me of the old film days when any photos taken then turned out color shifted toward orange.
