New power for the Coos Bay?
Author: CBRL

Yesterday I heard the Coos Bay train was headed out of Eugene and thought I would catch it and shoot those three funky switchers pulling the train, and what did I see but two AERC B40-8 locomotives on the job!  Since I was too lazy to head north and see them on their home track they figured they had to come to me.

Temporary lease while the "new" Coos Bay GP38-3s are being rebuilt at Western Rails.

Any info on what their operations are at this point? Last report we had they were transloading somewhere north of the bridge(s).

That's a very classy paint scheme.

Anyone know why the locos are yellow and green?

I know you do, but I'll go with a wild guess of Go Duckies!  Even close?

What is going with the radiator grills on the 5935? It looks like some sort of odd rebuild I haven't seen on a dash 8 before.

Split cooling modification that CSX had performed on some of their Dash 8s.  NS has this mod on some of their ex Conrail C40-8Ws, as well.  More info:
