A Little More Luck w/Light on the Phoenix sub
Author: RayLewis

So although the last photo I posted was one of those hard luck stories I cannot complain with the amount of luck I have had on a line that is short on trains. Ya really gotta know the flow of trains to have success. Additionally, I bought the drone and it has helped out giving me elevation where it doesnt exist. Dont get me wrong, I love to hike to try to get some unique views, bu there are just spots its impossible. From Hillside the tracks make a sharp curve towards Date and during the Fall and Winter is good for westbound trains. Here BNSF 5074 leads the ZWSPPHX9-30 between Hillside and Date. Taken on11/01/18.

Its been a challenge the last 3 days. New computer and trying new editing program. Ultimately I had to go back to the old computer, but hopefully I am back on track.

Great shot!  Thanks for posting.
Really emphasizes the lay of the land that the tracks follow through the levelest route through the hills.

Is that whole train to be unloaded in Phoenix?   Also, is that the normal amount of freight per day?  Just curious.

Awesome shot, awesome light, greart spot and what a lengthy train. That train used to be a short set out at Winslow from another Z train. That's a LOT of traffic. Grear job.

Really fine work there, Ray---and you have nothing to apologize about on your "bad luck" shot. I loved it, too.

Oh yawn, it's another BNSF pig train EXCEPT that's a really nice shot and the train only enhances the vew of the
terrain and the surroundings. Guess life really is more than 3/4 views!'

Thank you all. JB The ZWSPPHX is usually around 5 to 7k feet. Now the WINPHX is usually very short. 2.1k feet is a good train.

Tom yes it all terminates in Phoenix. Its a normal size wspphx. Sometimes they run a qchiphx which runs about 5k+ too. The zwinphx runs everyday except Sunday, its usually only around 2k feet. On sunday there is an altphx, its usually about 3 to 5k.
