From Frozen Fog to Icy Frost to Sunshine On The BNSF--777
Author: Ritzville

The weather the last couple of days has been a slippery challenge in Ritzville, WA on the BNSF Lakeside Sub. The High-low was 40-30. With the warm temps in the daytime, the ground is like a muddy swamp and like an ice rink in the morning. Here are some of the trains from today and yesterday with some variety. Traffic was steady today and yesterday. Had several friendly toots but can't remember the trains, lol.

1/10/2019

1. EB 916am "Q" train with BNSF 7573-4582 on the point with DPU just after the fog lifted.
2. DPU BNSF 7341 on same train fading away by old NP Ritzville Depot.
3. EB 933am grain train with BNSF 5244 and KCS 4808 on the pull with DPU.

Only 22 more to go.

Nice with sun. That bad weather that you experienced went south of us and we continue to swelter in Mid-Dakota. Keep ‘em coming Larry.

Maybe there was a platform there at one time?

Not sure, maybe 5 or more a month at the Templin grain circle in Ritzville. Bill there was a water tank on the right side of that S jog.

Larry,

Of course you had to miss the best train to go by Ritzville in daylight..  BNSF 1980, a green and black SD40-2 was leading a heritage 2 C44-9W (Dash 9 similar to the H1's), and another GE behind it on the M-PASLAU..   I not positive the time he went by Ritzville, but somewhere in the 2:30 to 3pm time frame..

Espee,

It put the mainline too close to the west side of the grain elevator..   Forget the exact date it was realigned like what we see now..
Maybe funnelfan can contribute a date on this..

goneon66 and Larry,

I gather it can be more than 5 a month especially during fall and winter..   I hear the crew always complaining when they have to put the train away at Templins as the have to take off the DPU and put it with the power on the head end or "convential" the power there..   At WER, we don't usually mess with how the power is unless there is a problem with it, but we have a slightly larger and new facility than Templins..
