Western Railroad Discussion > Stacks passing in Kingman CanyonDate: 01/16/19 17:00 Stacks passing in Kingman Canyon Author: Super_C On the morning of June 20, 2014 not long after sunrise, the canyon was busy with both eastbound and westbound traffic. At 0615 MST, we find 6542 East, Q-LACHOU1-19A and 8254 West, S-LPCLBL1-17A passing at the west end of Kingman Canyon. Eastbound trains usually run on #2 track (in the foreground) which has a lesser grade climbing into Kingman than the north track (#1) which is normally for westbounds descending ultimately to the crossing of the Colorado River at Topock, AZ.
This is not a drone photo. Merely some foot work and a tripod firmly situated at the edge of a mesa overlooking the scene. Date: 01/16/19 17:06 Re: Stacks passing in Kingman Canyon Author: goneon66 great image. i will check that spot out for a future video........

Date: 01/16/19 21:56 Re: Stacks passing in Kingman Canyon Author: coach You can see the old National Trails road here, and then "improved" Route 66. But looking at those mountains in the distance, it's hard to believe they chose to go over them, vs. the current route.
Date: 01/16/19 22:00 Re: Stacks passing in Kingman Canyon Author: steeplecab That's a truly great photo John, and potentially a lot of hiking to gain the perspective! With that elevation, it shows that whole area so much better than lower and closer photos. Did you have any access problems?
