Western Railroad Discussion > Tough Day For Pictures in The Rain and Fog on The BNSF

It was a dark rainy day with heavy fog in the afternoon in Ritzville, WA on the BNSF Lakeside Sub. The high-low was 39-33 with .55 of rain. Traffic was fairly steady after a couple MoW lulls of several hours with track work. The weather was not productive for pictures today, especially when the heavy fog rolled in. Here are a few of today's trains with a couple from yesterday. Also found a train from 1/10/2019 on my older camera.

1/10/2019

1. WB 111pm grain train with BNSF 9173 on the point with DPU's and a friendly toot-toot from the hogger. Train was rolling thru CP Tokio.
2. DPU's green and cream 9670 and Warbonnet 4704 on same train.

1/16/2019

3.  WB 934am coal train with BNSF 5284-H1 1050-6683 on the pull with DPU in a ray of rare sunshine.

16. DPU BNSF 8584 on same manifest train. Had to suspend picture taking due to the fog.

Great set of photos, Larry.  Please consider acquiring a fog filter so you can keep shooting when the weather turns soupy.  :^)

Mr. Hawk has been absent for about 5 days, Maybe he will return soon. It was interesting having the daily visits.

Larry, photo 2 looks like a freshly painted warbonnet. Is that the case or is it an illusion created by the rain?

great good looking trains today larry like the smokein warbonnet

Nice trains today. At least the rain makes them shiny and cleaner looking, but the fog doesn't help much.

Warbonnet 4714 had better than normal looking paint, which was enhanced by a slight ray of sunlight, not rain.
