Interesting 66, we have been seeing that a lot on the UP Gila Sub since they started PSR.  Sometimes, they even have Autoracks mixed in as well.

Many trains are becoming an everything, pile it on, medium speed, underpowered, mainline locals. Crews can take an hour to two hours to make a simple set/out or pickup. Possibly some of these newer guys have not had much experience doing that. Saw 2 or 3 in the last couple of weeks standing there looking lost, papers in hand and turned out to be a straight set/out of what he had behind the power already on the ladder track. Had plenty of open track to set them in. I don't think anyone is concerned about hours ticking by in these moves. They will recrew down the line. It is no doubt the new math with excuses.

I’m sure that’s thanks to the idiots they’ve been hiring on lately, almost all the trainees I’ve run into have absolutely no business on the railroad.

Add to that the relaxing of the training program and I think we’re in for a real big shitstorm especially when these idiots make their way to the right side of the cab.

Thats the railroad way (Sink or swim) only the strong will survive....
As far as the mixed trains UP's line of thinking with PSR if a lower priority stack train has the capacity for cars to be added then do it. Auto racks have been common on some intermodel trains over the years. Autos also don't slow the train down at all they are 70MPH cars.

You say that without having to work with them.

The world would be a better place if we all were more like me, but sadly that just isn’t the reality we live in now is it?

Seriously though these guys are terrible and just about everyone out here agrees with me.

Maybe some day you, like I, will be told by the experts that what you spent decades doing can't be done.

Okay, I wasn't tripping out yesterday! I passed this train last night and glanced at some manifest, swearing I seen some coil cars before a bunch if stacks went by, then I paid a little more attention. I was convinced I imagined the whole thing.

Although the technical quality of the video is pretty jumpy, it's a good and instructive video for other reasons. First is that by catching the train at roughly a 90 degree angle, you can see the huge horizontal gaps between containers, even in the cases of 3 x 53ft well cars fully loaded with 53s. For promotional photos, railroads always like to use pics taken at very accute angles trackside, as you can't see the gaps between the wells and cars. It looks better, more aerodynamic, and efficient. Like a wall of containers.

In reality, while doublestacked containers make the most use of height, they make less use of the available width, and lengthwise there are significant gaps between the wells of an articulated car, and even move between cars. And in this case there was shit-poor slot utilization (even bare wells) and too many international 40s and 20s loaded in 53ft wells.

That's a ridiculous assumption but I would expect nothing less from you.
