Washout near Beaumont, CA
Author: zars

UP reporting trains stopped, due to wash out MP 558.9, MT 1 & 2 Yuma sub.  UP's response to a service issue log I entered:  "...We do have a service interruption currently underway on our Yuma Subdivision.  "Flood waters have overwhelmed a bridge and washed out a portion of the bridge embankment. "All train traffic is currently stopped. "We have 40 trucks hauling rock in rotation and equipment on scene working to restore mainline operation. We do not have an estimated time of opening at this time."

Absolutely no surprise there has been a washout. Here are some 48 hour rain totals for the drainage on the, primarily, east side of Beaumont Hill:

Palm Springs airport - 3.70
Indio - 1.30
Whitewater Trout Farm - 6.22
Cabazon - 5.31
Beaumont - 3.35
Mt San Jacinto - 9.12

Looks like it’s either the bridge at Noble Creek or Little San Gorgonio Creek, which are right next to each other between Hinda and Beaumont, off the 10 freeway and Oak Valley Parkway...
