A Winter View at Summit
Author: TheNavigator

With the recent snowfall in the mountains of SoCal, I made a Summit turn this morning to get a few shots with snow in the background.  Unfortunately, traffic on the Cajon Sub was light today so I settled for this one-off of BNSF 5088 east in H2 paint before heading down the hill.  Although this perspective is probably over-shot, I still do like the location.

Thanks for looking,
GK

Very nice. Not as much snow as I thought at Summit? Outstanding background though.

Good luck trying to even get up to the pass this weekend.
All of the ski areas have got a LOT of snow and I-15, the 138 and even old 66 are going to be packed.

Others may say that scene is over-done, but every image on every day is different.
You can't go back to that light, that pattern of snow on brush in varying degrees of fire recovery, or that consist.
You enjoyed it and we all enjoyed it.
If it looks good, press the shutter!

IOTD material, Beautiful shot!
There was probably snow at this location overnight and this morning, by last night there was snow covering all the foot hills around San Berdoo, but it melted off with the sun.

Most snow many folks have seen covering the San Gabriel Mts in a long time, glad you caught this rare scene!
Suprised there's no other posts from So Cal with Trains/Snow, but it was a rather quick and suprise storm last night.
