Western Railroad Discussion > Plaster City NG: Small Load of Ties Bound for the QuarryDate: 03/21/19 18:49 Plaster City NG: Small Load of Ties Bound for the Quarry Author: Dave Caught the afternoon gypsum train to the quarry at Split Mountain with the flat car bringing up the rear with a small load of ties on 3/18/19. I've always wanted to photograph the train with one of the flat cars in the consist. Too bad it wasn't one of these large equipment loads I've heard about but definitely a rare occurrence none-the-less.

With it being completely insular, USG never saw a need to convert it to standard gauge as they can still maintain and get parts for their equipment. -Jarod Date: 03/22/19 09:42 Re: Plaster City NG: Small Load of Ties Bound for the Quarry Author: Dave Josta Wrote:

I believe the end sell on the B end of the car was completely replaced at some point by USG. It's just 15" steel channel. The coupler pockets on each end are also different also the older handbrake was replaced with a more modern design. -Jarod Date: 03/22/19 12:18 Re: Plaster City NG: Small Load of Ties Bound for the Quarry Author: Dave Here's a vid of the consist making its way upgrade at milepost 25, just below the quarry.
