Yep, a pretty disgusting thing to do to all of the workers and their families lives who they've tossed into ruin over the last couple of months.

 They could paint a  GE unit , just for the heck of it !

That poor thing will be a constant target of vandalism from disgruntled employees. 

"Powered by our people". Pushing a coal drag and everyone has blackface.

What's the over/under ex UP workers though eggs at that as it's passing by?

Of course their railroad but I think you can get carried away with this stuff.  Then there are the likely push for lets have a "XYZ" unit. 
Personally a little more pride in the every day appearance of their motive power fleet would be better.  This is what the average person sees every day.
I remember two days out in Caliente NV and not seeing one unit that I would consider attractive, all those American flags that looked like they were dragged through the mud.

I sure would like to see the UP paint up a unit as suggested by TRAINS this month to commemorate the UP119 used in the Golden Spike ceremony.

Hell if they are going to do anything finish out the heritage paint jobs with the left out railroads, T&P, C&EI, Cotten Belt, etc.

On the top picture, it looks like the one gut is holding a radar gun checking to see if the trains are speeding.  Or is he just trying to see what's over the next hill.  Sure looks like he's checking speed.

I hope that it is supposed to be a surveyor with a transit.

That's NOTHING, compared to how much they'll vandalize the "pride unit" they paint dedicated to the Wall Street Hedge Fund Managers... 

With such elaborate artwork and being different on both sides, I hope U.P. manages to keep it washed on a regular basis.  I'm like some others, however.  I think it will be too tempting for some vandals.  

Russia has done this for years except on the side of buildings, vaunting the labor force, well those who
haven't been sent to Siberia anytway.
