Western Railroad Discussion > UP freight through downtown Salt LakeDate: 05/12/19 21:00 UP freight through downtown Salt Lake Author: casco17 This southbound (westbound?) train blocked the crossing near the Salt Lake Central station for some time, before it started moving slowly (evening of 5/7/19). Amazingly long trains in the Salt Lake area; this one had a mix of auto racks and other freight cars.
A few random pics: 1. CSS coil steel car 2. FURX gondola; placard to the left of the number states "Radioactive"; there were three of these cars 3. TCMX covered gondola, also coiled steel? continued Date: 05/12/19 21:04 Re: UP freight through downtown Salt Lake Author: casco17 Date: 05/13/19 06:27 Re: UP freight through downtown Salt Lake Author: Bob3985 The FURX car was likely dirty dirt of the low level radioactive type.
Bob Krieger Cheyenne, WY Date: 05/13/19 10:52 Re: UP freight through downtown Salt Lake Author: atsf121 I didn’t think the TCMX gondola carried steel loads, had assumed it was for “dirty dirt” that needed to be covered during transit. Anyone know for sure?
