UP freight through downtown Salt Lake
Author: casco17

This southbound (westbound?) train blocked the crossing near the Salt Lake Central station for some time, before it started moving slowly (evening of 5/7/19).  Amazingly long trains in the Salt Lake area; this one had a mix of auto racks and other freight cars.
A few random pics:
1. CSS coil steel car
2. FURX gondola; placard to the left of the number states "Radioactive"; there were three of these cars
3. TCMX covered gondola, also coiled steel?

4. UP engine towards the end of the train
5. SP boxcar

The FURX car was likely dirty dirt of the low level radioactive type.

I didn’t think the TCMX gondola carried steel loads, had assumed it was for “dirty dirt” that needed to be covered during transit.  Anyone know for sure?

With all the ribbing on it, I would think it is for steel loads, buy maybe not coils. Proably bar stock.
