Pole Question
Author: DynamicBrake

I've noticed over the years that sometimes during a crew change, a crew member will have a long pole with what looks like a hook on the end.  What is this pole used for?  TIA

That would be a brake stick.  It allows the crew to tighten and release brakes, align car coupler knuckles, operate angle locks, and reset end-of-train warning devices.
