210 car mixed freight by Kearney
Author: inCHI

At 8:45am Central, a eastbound mixed freight at Kearney, NE had 2 engines up front, 113 cars, 3 engines DPU, and 97 more cars, for 210 total. My count is approximate. The front had a lot of lumber, reefers, and covered hoppers, and the back 97 cars was almost entirely DDG cars and tanks. I wonder what the length and tonnage was on that.

Through Omaha, there has been, and I've seen 243, 252 and more car trains. My brothers also have seen 230-270 car trains.

A lunch truck at the crossing in Fremont would do well!

Again, woe be the poor conductor that has to walk that.

Sounds like a normal SP "empty the yard" manifest freight.

This is the new norm all over the system, run 2 trains in one.
