Interesting shots, thanks for posting.

I'm having a very hard time believing the 8253 is an ex-NP engine.  And yes, I did check The Diesel Shop and it confirms your id.  However, the number
is consistent with a Paducah rebuild as is the short and long hood configuration.  I'm unaware the IC(G) got any ex-NP Geeps in their rebuild program
but the did get many used ones.  We need some further investigation on this.

Nick; IIRC, the BN used the GP10 designation on their 1400's rebuilds. A few of those were sold. Iowa Interstate got 405 and 406.IAIS called them GP10's. The Milw GP20's were not similar to regular GP20's as built. Additions and corrections invited and welcome.

As long as we're tossing loco histories about, Grainbelt 628 (GP38AC) is formerly IAIS 628, originally GM&O 731.

Doesn't appear she ever received an ICG number, found photos of her online as late as 1986 still in full GM&O dress.

All the ex-IAIS GP38ACs (625-628) are original GM&O.

I am aware of the BN rebuilds into the 1400's.  However, these were all GP7's, not GP9's.  Further, the nose headlight is consistent with
IC(G) Paducah rebuilds, not BN rebuilds where the headlight was between the number boards.  As I said, we need further investigation.
However, it is probably asking too much to have someone read the blue card which is in the locomotive.  Frame number, perhaps?

Nick; You're right, and I knew that before you replied. Apparently, the NP unit was a wrecked unit. Paducah purchased wrecked carcasses for rebuilding. A wrecked D&RGW GP7 or GP9 showed up in Council Bluffs circa 1975, it was on a flat car.
