737 shells at Wenachee
Author: cvrrr

There was a thread about a month ago in regards to the 737 Max shells that were piling up in the yard in Wench Wash. My brother and I were on our way home from seeing 4014 and decided to stop and see the planes. There were 11 shells that I could see. There may have been others elsewhere There was this BNSF former BN caboose that may been used by security to keep a eye on the shells.

Those fuselages are way more then just an empty shells. Much of the wiring for the power distribution system and the avionics and the air conditioning system has already been installed by the folks at Spirit Aerospace Systems.

Depending on what they ordered the complete interior might be in there.  Somthings are easier to put inside while being assembled and per contract is done at Spirit in Wichita.
I had someone complaining that the job that switches Spirit in Wichita was going to be cut back.  This guy said he worked for the RR and it was all the BNSF and Spirits fault.  When I pointed out to him that they would only send the fuselages to Renton when Boeing wanted them he actully told me that was a lie, they had to send them out every day even if it was only one and Boeing wouldn't take them.  Could not understand why they were having  problems with the job.

Easy, the old heads we had working that job were fed up with Spirit jacking around with the pull time. What was once a quit job (on duty less than 8 hours) turned into a 12 hour nightmare every night. The job has since been abolished and is ran off of the extraboard out of Newton as needed.

They are piling up because of the grounding of the 737-MAX.

Hey, compared to the new hires they had forced to it when they abolished it, they were old heads...

The JWICKCK regular assigned job was abolished over a month ago. Spirit plant is now worked a couple times a wk off the xtra bd. This was all on Spirit. Their transportation staff went in meltdown mode, became dishonest and yes, if there was single unit to pull that night, they wanted it out which meant the train had to wait.....and wait.                                                                                                                    Many nights, we would be waiting at the gate for hours. Simply a waste of time. There may be units already at the gate, but "one more" we were told was "projected" to be released. Sometimes that unit might have been brought down, other nights not so. On top of that, The "wait" time at the gate was extended from midnight, to 0100 the 0200 and 0300. If Spirit had its way, the wait time would have been extended further more. Things became so bad with this that the Wichita trainmaster told us 0300 is it, if they are not ready, either security opens the gates to pull what is there or we leave. At least 2 times this winter,we pulled up lite eng and performed the wait game. Nothing out there to pull, 0300 bam we departed the same we arrived.
I worked that job the majority of the time since 2016. Over the past couple yrs it downgraded in terms of how Spirit handled us. Our contacts everynight by cell phone and at the gate was with Spirit transportation managers and shift leaders at Wichita. We never dealt w/Boeing staff in Seattle. This past winter, over the course of two months all three of us vacated the job as being out 10 hrs a night for what Spirit was kicking us like a football, was no longer worth it.
Now you know the rest of the story,

Got it. New hires...and everyone else...old heads. Proof Einstein was right (who'd doubt him?). Time is relative.

So Boeing/Spirit  (the customers) pay big money to move their planes and they had the nerve to tell ya how they wanted it? So it was a regular job with good rest days (something kind of rare these days) that paid OT to sit and wait for the cars? Yeah...that's CRAZY!! Good for you.

It's simple orders have been canceled and delivries have been postponed so production has slowed down they have completed airplanes on the ramp at Renton, WA that customers aren't taking delivery because they can't use them. That's what causes the slowdown

What causes the slowdown is the fact that they're pretty much out of places to park completed aircraft there at Boeing Field in Seattle.
Yes there have been a few orders cancelled but they still have a order backlog of over 3000 aircraft. Boeing ain't going broke anytime soon.

Correct, as long as the full truth about the issue does not become household widepsread knowledge.
