Western Railroad Discussion > right after the stormDate: 06/12/19 04:39 right after the storm Author: santafe199 It’s that magic time right after an atmospheric deluge of biblical proportions. The rain has quit and the air is clear, but it’s still very dark. In this image it’s 6:52 AM. From the combination of an ISO setting of 640 and some photo-editing hijinks added in I got this ethereal glowing effect. It’s still so dark I betcha you didn’t even notice the BN green cab door clashing with the suppressed day-glo BNSF orange of the cab face. Or didja!!?? On a normal June day this train would be rolling directly into a blazing morning sun. As I recall the sun was shining by mid-morning, but that provided no assistance in trying to stop-action a high speed train under a stormy sky.
1. BNSF 3116 is eastbound at near track speed with a manifest. This is freshly rain-scrubbed Strong City, KS on June 15, 2012. Thanks for looking! Lance Garrels santafe199 Edited 1 time(s). Now a question: What train is this? I'm guessing it's some kind of local with the GP50 leading, ex-BN at that. And notice the cab door is in primer, which seems odd. Looking forward to traveling through KS next month! Nick Tharalson, Marion, IA Date: 06/12/19 21:27 Re: right after the storm Author: ATSFSuperChief Another fantastic shot and editing.
