Three surviving Los Angeles Towers

From top to bottom they are BNSF Pico Rivera Yard tower, LAUPT Terminal tower, Mission tower.

Of note, even though it looks like the others, Pico Rivera tower never controlled any track, it was just a yard tower. Why it was so big, no idea. Went on duty there many times. Nice to see it, it's been awhile.

I made my first visit to Mission Tower in Fall of 1979.  I remember climbing the steps with a little trepidation as there was a large German Shepard at the top of the stairs waiting to greet us.  Kathy Blakemore was the operator and she would be the owner of said dog.  Kathy gave me a great tour of the inner workings of the tower.  She went on to become a Train Dispatcher in San Bernardino.
