...or maybe out of Barstow is more appropriate.  Last year, ACes were relatively rare on the BNSF in Southern California and I had word that one was leading a San Bernardino bound intermodal in good afternoon light.  So off to Hodge where I unpacked the big lens and set up for the double curves.  In my opinion, the severe compression and the husky lines of the leading ACe show off the great vantage point Hodge is for watching trains start to climb up out of the Mojave River basin on their way up to Cajon Pass.  Thanks for looking!

I like the lines of these units also. More than the GE's. That looks like a great place too. Thanks for sharing this good shot. Be well, Ben

It doesn't hurt that EMD/Progress Rail products seem to hold their color much better.  A GE paint job is almost always filthy within a couple months of delivery whereas these units seem to look good for years after.

They do look good, but oh my aching ears ...the horn volume is painfully loud unless you are out in the open farmlands where the sound is diffused . --Kelly
