Doesn't bode well for either the Trona or the Jawbone, hope everyone in Trona has a job to report
to next week.

One hell of a shake in San Bernardino, good rolling motion for over a minute.

USGS earthquake site being absolutely blasted with hits right now, hard to update the pages, but 6.9 or 7.1 seems to be the main shock number range at the moment. with a 5.0 foreshock at 8:16, 6.9 (or 7.1 still being calculated) at 8:19, and now half a dozen 4.0-4.7 aftershocks...

This one will have ramifications on BNSF's Cajon Sub, Mojave Sub, & Needles Sub.

Nothing up here in Calaveras County but I'm lined up for a empty grainer out of Stockton in the morning. I suspect that will change now, just like it did yesterday after the quake.

On the Barstow webcam, it really shakes at 20:20:19 on the west camera.  Apparently the train crews aren't feeling it- in the distance you can see a westbound continue into the yard.  At 20:24, a UP westbound with double stacks goes by.

On the Tehachapi webcam, the crossing gate arm starts whipping at 8:20:15.

Not to mention the two LA aqueducts and the DC EHV Pacific Intertie from WA that go  west of ground zero.

I exchange emails with the Trona this afternoon, and at that time both the Trona and the UP were operating with no restrictions.  Of course that was before this evening's shaker.

Was onboard Amtrak #11 approaching LA Union Station when the Metrolink Valley Dispatcher called out "Emergency, Emergency, Emergency. Train ____, bring your train to a stop as quickly as possible" to each train on the line. Was a surreal experience...learned of quake from a friend's text moments later.

Metro here in LA shut down and are inspecting tracks but looks like they are moving again and the Gold line was shut down but not sure if they have restarted.

We were stopped for about 15 minutes and allowed to resume with no restrictions. Was interesting see the process occur and everybody was very professional and efficient. Kudos to everybody involved.

Felt it in Modesto.  I was seated, facing the southeast, and was swayed left-to-right-to left-to-right.........., for 30 to 45 seconds.

7.1 is ten times stronger than 6.4

Has anyone heard on the Trona Railway is doing the high fill at MP 18 failed in the 1992 Earthquake and it sounds like Trona in town took a big Hit with no power and water supply running low

I hope all my Friends from my days at the Trona are ok.

Be safe

I grabbed the data for the Randsburg earthquake sequence and plotted it as moment magnitude vs time.

Wife said abc news showed a shot of the railroad tracks in Trona and they looked like a roller coaster with successive and excessive vertical curvature.
