IRMX 260 headed home to IRM
Author: joeygooganelli

IRMX 260 was moved from Maysville, Ky today where it has been with the TTI for the last 30 years. As far as I know, it's the last u28b in existence and it's headed for preservation. It was coming in to Cincinnati this afternoon and going to be headed to the Illinois Railway Museum. Not much needs to be done in order to get this engine ready for service there as it had been used to move strings of coal cars to the loadouts along the Ohio River. I can't wait to see what IRM does with it!

Great news!  This is ex-BN 5458/CB&Q 114, a late U28B with a pug nose (built January 1967). It is similar in appearance to WP 3051 at Portola, CA, an early U30B (built September 1967) and the only preserved example of its type as well.

This is awesome news! Wasn't there also talks of them being intrested in an ex-Rock Island also part of the TTI fleet?....perhaps someone just mentioned it as a suggestion, or I'm thinking of something else.
