Western Railroad Discussion > Double Rainbow over Great RiverDate: 07/14/19 06:22 Double Rainbow over Great River Author: bmarti7 Great River is the junction between the DMVW and the BNSF Jamestown Sub at MP 192.1. on the eastern side of Bismarck. It would be a great location to shoot trains BUT ground access is ONLY on the property of the North Dakota State Penitentiary. A sign at the entrance, which is old Highway 10, reads WARNING Official Business Only. I'm just chicken enough to not test it. Thanks for looking.
BB 1. The rainbows are located over the Great River Junction in southeast Bismarck. 2. Google Earth shows the junction's proximity to the State pen. The BNSF runs east-west. The DMVW runs north and uses BNSF trackage rights east to McKenzie before heading eastward on it's own ROW.
