for West Coast drawbridge hunters
Author: mapboy

See Evan's reformatted post below.  Deleted my text.  Thanks, Evan!

Evan has found a mistake.  The website does not include the Old River, the one I gave the Mile Post 1136.3.  That is Old River bascule bridge, just east of Orwood Siding.  The Middle River bascule bridge mentioned on the website is at MP 1134.8, 1 mile west of the end of 2 Main Track at Trull.  The slight difference in Mile Posts might be that mine came off the track chart, Evan might have a different source. Thanks again, Evan!

Give this a try -

The drawbridge info below might help determine how soon to expect a movement when you see the position of a drawbridge or hear signal blasts.  The info is gathered from this website-

https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/CFR-2018-title33-vol1/xml/CFR-2018-title33-vol1-part117.xml#seqnum117.169

The link was posted by Brad Hellman in an earlier TO post.  I deleted the info on highway drawbridges over the waterways listed below.  There are also many more railroad drawbridges that are not listed on the website that are in the closed position and no longer required to be moved.  Some photos of movable bridges here-

https://bridgehunter.com/category/tag/movable/

I gathered the info below for my use, thought I might as well pass it along.  Corrections, additions welcome.

The BNSF bridge on Lake Pend Orielle (not the river) is welded in place and cannot be opened last I heard.  I believe the new span will have no provision for a draw span either. I believe the same goes for the Lewis River Bridge in Washington State.

Have ridden across the Cordelia Slough bridge on the old Cal-P many times, but I would be surprised if it could still open. Would be curious when it last opened.

Having seen all the creeks that feed the sloughs in the marsh, and all the twists and turns the sloughs make, I wonder how often someone gets lost out there.
