BM&LP out online 50 years after 07/20/1969

In the Page, AZ area high is expected of 101f. Blue sunny skies with some coulds on the southern horizon. Two more hot days with fewer clouds forecast.

Highway trooper had p/u pulled over in the 55mph zone at the plant entrance. I had seen one yesterday working the junctio just west. Otherwise hwy 98 posted for 65 mph sees a lot of 75-80 mph traffic.

I arrived at the plant at 0650, there is no train. Is the night train not back or did the 0700 train depart early again? I am parked about 2 miles down for an inbound photo. We will see how luck holds. Oh for talking detectors.

I have been about 2 mi south of the plant with no trains either way for 90 minutes now. Note to self, tomorrow be here 30 minutes early. The mty should be down about the hwy 98 crossing so I will head that ×way to possibly catch the load leaving when I get there.

Be sure to program in the EOTD (457.9375) and HOTD (452.9375) frequencies into your scanner as this proved very helpful in our chase back in May. It gives you a few minutes heads up when the train is on the way.

All of their other communication appears to be digital.

I kept looking for train signs on the drive south on 98 and 21 with no luck. About the time I got to Tonaleah I got a text from Brad saying there was no train at the loadout. We decided to drive towards each other to put a push on the train. I dedided to stop at the hwy 98 crossing and wait at a pretty good location. Perhaps 30 mins later at 1015 the loads came west. I got the shot there, rr mp 66 then drove 160 and BIA 21 to the crossing under the tracks.

I have since explored roads between Cow Creek and the White Mesa rocks and found a nice curve shot on rd 6320. One photo here, next photo probably leaving the loadout maybe chase shots up 98.

The 2:00 pm mty arrived at the loadout at 4:55 pm. That's about an hour longer than other runs. Waves from crews all day.

So while we are waiting for the loading to begin and the air test to complete let's look at the elephants feet. I am not kidding they're on the 3rd party state map. Navaho people prize harmony in all the world. They meet here to celebrate harmony. I have not found what they were called before Navaho people knew there were elephants.

The train pulled from load about 6:00 pm and i got one close shot before making a dash for an overlook to the first Cow Springs curve. The train well beat me to the culvert overpass and I barely beat him to 20.8 crossing and sun was starting below the horizon before he cleared the crossing.

No see ums have hit my bare arms and knees under my pants.
