Western Railroad Discussion > SP 9010 and Amtrak CapitolDate: 07/21/19 21:05 SP 9010 and Amtrak Capitol Author: SPB 1. The Niles Canyon Railway had restored Krauss Maffei SP 9010 running today. Here 9010 is spotted at Niles while an Amtrak Capitol bound for San Jose passes by on the adjactent UP mainline.
2. As viewed from the caboose, 9010 was running cab hop today. It was mu-ed with black widow SD-9 #5472. The caboose was February 1942 built #1101, a C-40-3. 3. 9010 shown eastbound crossing Farwell Bridge over Alameda Creek and state highway 84 in Niles Canyon. No, the engines are the original Maybach MD870's, one of which is out on the shop floor to be rebuilt.
