Western Railroad Discussion > Railroadians of America - SP diner 10128Date: 07/22/19 14:16 Railroadians of America - SP diner 10128 Author: njmidland Back in the 1940's and 1950's there was a "Pacific Branch" of the Railroadians of America, one of the earliest railroad enthusiats groups in the U.S. They leased a dining car from the Southern Pacific that was kept at Third and Townsend in San Francisco. A newsletter I found from 1951 says it was #10128. The group held monthly meeting in this car and occasionally served meals in this diner. It also says they invited other railroad groups to use the car.
Does anyone know how long this arrangement lasted? Anyone have any photos of the car in this "leased" service? The Railroadians of American merged into another group in 1999, but by then the "Pacific Branch" was long gone. |
