WNY&P--Long Way From Home
Author: livesteamer

Found the WNY&P #6002 over the weekend sitting in a rather empty yard a long way from home.  So, any guess as to where this unit was located?  The obvious hint is the fact that I am posting on the Western Board.

Looks like the HDL is still in it by the two stacks.

Nope, those were replaced with a 16-cylinder EVO powerplant a few years ago.  Even with the new powerplants, CSX decided to rid themselves of these units because of their higher fuel consumption, and being an oddball among the fleet.

I believe these are being painted and serviced as-needed at the Arkansas and Missouri shops in Springdale, AR before delivery to the WNY&P.

Both the EVO and the HDL are based on the Deutz 632.

Little semi-regional a few miles East of you, like Western New York and Pennsylvania.

So this unit started out as a CSX AC6000CW?
