Western Railroad Discussion > Spokane, Spangle & Palouse Rwy - Part 1Date: 08/06/19 00:44 Spokane, Spangle & Palouse Rwy - Part 1 Author: funnelfan The Spokane, Spangle & Palouse Rwy has replaced the Washington & Idaho Rwy as the operator of the Washington State owned P&L railroad line (ex-NP). Monday was the first day of operations and I followed the train from Marshall to Rosalia, WA. I didn't chase a early morning run from Marshall to Whitman (storage yard north of Spangle) where they took 9 cars up the grade with the lone GP39-3M LTEX 3904, but around 11am they were ready to take more cars up the 1.77% maximum grade leaving Marshall. They did fine until crossing Anderson Rd and getting into some 6 and 7 degree curves were they stalled. After cutting off the last 10 cars they took the rest of the train to Whitman and returned to grab the remaining 10 cars. So far only the one locomotive is on the railroad, but more LTEX leasers are due shortly coming off lease from Omnitrax at Kettle Falls, WA

>> Ted, what is that signal for?>> The "D" number plate denotes Distant Signal, as in an approach to the controlled signal in Marshall out on to the BNSF main. Been there for years. It conveys no track condition (trains, cars, broken rail, etc). Dave in Msla Date: 08/06/19 14:13 Re: Spokane, Spangle & Palouse Rwy - Part 1 Author: ns1000 Great pics!!

Date: 08/06/19 17:40 Re: Spokane, Spangle & Palouse Rwy - Part 1 Author: irhoghead I hope they have more success with those locomotives than the KFR did. They came looking real nice with their new paint jobs, but it was more like lipstick on a pig. Numerous mechanical issues, weak power and dynamics.
