I briefly lived in Lincoln on assignment in 1973-74. It was a great little railroad town with a fair amount of action which at the time included 3 lines of the ICG, plus Amtrak and the Illinois Terminal.
I'm surprised you don't see more pictures taken there. Thanks for showing!

Hope you stopped and got a donut at Mel-O-Cream!   Not too far from where you took that pic.   I spent many days as a kid watching IC and AMTRAK and SP trains pound that muddy diamond...

Make sure you go early. Unless things have changed, Mel-O-Cream only makes them once early in the morning and they sell out quick. That's one of the things I miss most about Central Illinois.

Nope nothing has changed, the stores usually get one batch and they are gone pretty quick. I'm personally not a huge Mel O Cream fan mostly because the stores are look dirty and run down. A woman recently purchased the retail stores so hopefully things get turned around.
