UP Train Derailment in Holland, TX
Author: Eagle22

A Union Pacific train derailed 13 cars including 4 engines in Holland, TX early this morning. All crossings through town are blocked. Amtrak service suspended for day between Ft. Worth and San Antonio with busses providing alternate transportation.

Looking at Satellite imagery, only two crossings, one paved and one dirt. There is a mostly unused single ended siding for a grain elevator and a busy single siding for a agri-chem dealer. A through truss bridge and trestle approach over Darrs Creek just south of town. Former MKT line.

I think the line was former MKT, then briefly MP and finally UP.

It was never an MP line.  It went straight from the Katy to UP in the merger.
