The U P homestead yard(not the desert yard) in West Oakland is one of the most secure yet empty yard on the system so I wonder why they never store any locomotives there. Tracy and Dunsmuir seems like a less secure place to park their high price toys.it seems good enough to store they passenger fleet why not thein motors.

A few years back, UP stored a bunch of power at Dunsmuir and many of the units had the air horns 'removed'.  With UP police becoming rare, it would likely happen again. The Dunsmuir locals care shed more on this story.

Did a drive-by on the Union Pacific's "mothball fleet" at Tracy yesterday, and there are several of the stored locomotives that have received creative repainting by local artists, and several with their doors opened for inspection.
