Western Railroad Discussion > Two at Skull ValleyDate: 10/06/19 19:26 Two at Skull Valley Author: arizonaBNSF Yesterday I drove to Prescott, AZ to spend the day there and instead of taking the I-17 like most people in Phoenix, I took the 'back way' a combination of US-60, AZ-89, and Yavapai County road 15 &10 through Wickenburg, Congress, Kirkland, and Skull Valley with the hopes of getting to do some railfanning along the SFP&P Peavine. I lucked out and happened to catch a PHX bound (WB) vehicle train at Skull Valley on my was to Prescott and an EB vehicle train again at Skull Valley on the way back to Phoenix. I also got to photograph two spots I have wanted to catch trains at for a while now.
Enjoy! 1) The Westbound train about halfway between Kirkland and Skull Valley 2) Zoomed out, the same train passing some trees on a ranch property. This part of Arizona, with its large and well kept ranches and large trees (thanks to undergrond water) is one of my favorite areas in the state. 3) Later in the evening, the EB vehicle train with a nice Warbonnet trailing, passes a well-kept field with horses. I was standing at the fence for this property along a road and one of the goats came up to the fence to check me out and keep me company while I waited for the train.
