Western Railroad Discussion > Milwaukee S Curve Trestle - Sounder BridgeDate: 11/07/19 01:09 Milwaukee S Curve Trestle - Sounder Bridge Author: DelMonteX It's been almost 2 years since the razing of the Milwaukee S Curve trestle in Tacoma and the completion of the replacement 2-track bridge built by Sound Transit.
I documented that process here on Trainorders over a period of a year and a half, all the while taking images for a timelapse. After getting a few other projects out of the way and conquering a mild case of procrastination, I was able to finish my documentary of the project, in time of this years Autumn Leaf Slideshow in Centralia WA. Here's the show in 4k on Vimeo. It's much too large (and long) for posting here. So click the link and enjoy (I hope). https://vimeo.com/371321493 Steve Carter Gig Harbor, WA My Photography Date: 11/07/19 05:19 Re: Milwaukee S Curve Trestle - Sounder Bridge Author: GPutz Thanks, Steve, for that great video. Larry Date: 11/07/19 14:18 Re: Milwaukee S Curve Trestle - Sounder Bridge Author: randalerickson That is truly an amazing piece of work from you and the contractors! I can't even the imagine the amount of time you put into this.Sad to see the old bridge go though.

Steve's excellent work (including the MILW logo) is all that is needed. I'd rather see the improved line brought back to life than see the preserved relic on an empty railroad. I also have somewhere pictures of timbers that were replaced so that the bridge wouldn't collapse (as it almost did, which is how the rotten timbers were discovered). That is just part of what was wrong with it.
