I am hearing rumors that BNSF purchased the NS F's now, can anyone confirm this?

I seriously, seriously doubt that.

BNSF inherited F units and an E unit in the merger from BN and chose to donate them to a museum instead of operating.

Not gonna lie, seeing BNSF's business train pulled by ATSF Warbonnet F units, or F units in a variation of H3 would be amazing. 

According to the thread on the eastern board, bids are due in on November 20th, so even if BNSF is bidding on them, they wouldn't already have purchased them.

Probably saw it on the internet.   MUST BE TRUE!   

There was a facebook post that the BNSF official FB page had purchased them.

some of the reasons given were the small fuel tanks made it hard on f's a/b unit, just 2 units, the e was never even rebuilt  after commuter retirement,that i remember.     So with an abba set, what are they rated at? 2500hp? per

Does NS still have spare parts f's as well or allready purged, thought they were offered last springish?

They must have deleted it the post said we value that history and to preserve that history, BNSF will be purchasing the NS F units to pull bussiness trains instead of the ES44AC's.

Like was stated earlier BNSF inherited the executive E and F Units from BN and promply donated them to the Illinois Railway Museum. I really don't see them picking up the NS F's

They were going to rebuild another E unit 9920 into BN-4 at West Burlington and paint it in Executive Scheme in '95 but the plan was scrapped

Guessing BNSF didn't want to have to remove these ridiculous BN emblems that were on the front door of the A-units. LOL

Would be nice if true.They could be repowered like the UP E-units.
Love to see those units come through here again...

The NS F-Units are already "repowered", with Dash-2 electrical controls.

Not to mention PTC, cab signals and electronic braking.  645 engines, AR10 alternators, high speed gearing, The ONLY thing old on these units is the carbody.  They are THOROUGHLY modern inside.
