Western Railroad Discussion > NS F's Purchase by BNSFDate: 11/08/19 06:09 NS F's Purchase by BNSF Author: jayman I am hearing rumors that BNSF purchased the NS F's now, can anyone confirm this?
Date: 11/08/19 07:32 Re: NS F's Purchase by BNSF Author: arizonaBNSF I seriously, seriously doubt that.
Seriously doubt. BNSF inherited F units and an E unit in the merger from BN and chose to donate them to a museum instead of operating. Not gonna lie, seeing BNSF's business train pulled by ATSF Warbonnet F units, or F units in a variation of H3 would be amazing. Date: 11/08/19 07:47 Re: NS F's Purchase by BNSF Author: mtzctrain According to the thread on the eastern board, bids are due in on November 20th, so even if BNSF is bidding on them, they wouldn't already have purchased them.

Date: 11/08/19 08:22 Re: NS F's Purchase by BNSF Author: jayman There was a facebook post that the BNSF official FB page had purchased them.

the BNSF Railway page? from above; "BNSF inherited F units and an E unit in the merger from BN and chose to donate them to a museum instead of operating" some of the reasons given were the small fuel tanks made it hard on f's a/b unit, just 2 units, the e was never even rebuilt after commuter retirement, that i remember. So with an abba set, what are they rated at? 2500hp? per Does NS still have spare parts f's as well or allready purged, thought they were offered last springish? Edited 3 time(s). The NS F-Units are already "repowered", with Dash-2 electrical controls. Date: 11/10/19 08:00 Re: NS F's Purchase by BNSF Author: junctiontower Not to mention PTC, cab signals and electronic braking. 645 engines, AR10 alternators, high speed gearing, The ONLY thing old on these units is the carbody. They are THOROUGHLY modern inside.
