FEC in Colorado
Author: ns2557

After heading over to Pueblo Co the past 3 days to try and get a few shots of the FEC 801 and Fuel Car 301 on their way to the TTC east of Pueblo, we finally got some good shot. Getting a few bits of info from SD45X and Qman we set out this morning to see what we might find. At first it did not appear that we were going to get any as problems east of Pueblo delayed the train for a few. It turned out that it wasn't as bad as it first was.

We ran across cozephyr in Pueblo also, so a few guys were out doing the same as Kris and myself.  So, here are the shots.

Shot 1.   BNSF SD40-2 1732 leads BNSF 1929 past the Pueblo Union Depot with it's short train in tow. The FEC 801/301 combo can be seen 4 cars deep.

Shot 2.  At Pueblo Jct we managed a shot as it heads thru the Jct.

Shot 3.  The obligatory roster shot of 801. Here it is crossing US50 east of town.   Afew more follow....  Ben

Last 2 for now.

Shot 4.  FEC 801 heads thru the North End Baxter on it's way to the TTC.

Shot 5.  Not the 801/301 set, but a unit I have been attempting to get a shot of for the last few months since I first saw it thispast summer. What caught my eye was the fresh paint and the small wings on the nose. I myself like the smaller wings. Looks good. Here is UP GP40-2 1538 at Pueblo Co  11-08-2019.

Thanks for looking all, be well everyone.  Ben  (Mucho thnx to SD45X fo all the ehads up the past few days)

BTW, those are brand new XTTX Flats with the train. Quite a string here. All had Build Dates of 10-2019. Supposed to be coming out of Texas. Not sure where they are headed tho.  Ben

UP 1538 was built as Western Pacific 3548 in July 1979.  Now 40 years old.

I bet it has never looked better than it does today.

It looked pretty darn good in orange and green in 1979.

That's a lot of buffer distance between the power and the FEC units.
