A desert sunset from Ludlow on the Needles Sub.

A winter sunset at the National Trails Crossing just east of Ludlow. Ya gotta get them when ya can cuz this type of light will be gone in just a few minutes.

Awesome shot Don!  Love the California Sunset Shots (which can only be shown when no trees are in the way).

You're right Christina and where you live you have an unlimited supply of great sunsets.

Nice work, Don! We have sunsets like that in Colorado but we have trees, too!

Thanks to all for the kind words. Timing and luck has a lot to do with these sunset shots as the light is always changing and ya gotta hope that you can get a train at just the right moment.

Very Nice! It reminds of the many times during my career I was working a train during a great sunrise/sunset. More than once I wondered if I could get away with stopping a train and running ahead some place to get a shot or two! Never did, though! Or did I?

"I have no recollection, Senator."

Never admit to anything Lance.  I can't tell ya how many times, back in the late fifties and early sixties, while working, that I'd park my ride behind the UP Pasadena station where it could'nt be seen and jump up in cab of the Pasadena Local . Id ride with the crew up to north Pasadena and then return to Pasadena Station.I damn near got caught one day when I was sitting in the fireman's seat and as we crossed over Orange Grove Ave. I looked down and there was my boss sitting on his motorcycle, stopped right at the tracks. I'm sure he must of seen me but didn't believe what he saw and never said a word to me. Of course I kept my mouth shut.

Are you kidding? They won't let Geezer out of the old folks home unless it a clear day with 75 degree temps. Old folks like him can't take the cool, wet weather. He would turn to rust.
