Unusual Winter Storm approaching Oregon Coast

A bit more than I can explain but it's gonna dump around the California-Oregon Border and then head into the Sierras, the Low is following the Coast south and then forecast to take a left turn at the Border. Here''s some info from Portland area News:

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – You’re going to be seeing the words “Bombogenesis” or “Bomb Cyclone” the next few days as the forecast calls for this storm to develop and strengthen Tuesday for much of southern Oregon, but what is it? The terms are a fancy way to say an area of low pressure will rapidly or is rapidly intensifying over a short period of time (surface barometric pressure strengthens by 24 or more millibars over 24 hours).

Another interesting graphic for Dunsmuir that says there's a snow shovel in my future. We will have to see how this plays out for the Train Show in Medford this weekend:

Well, this morning's NOAA forecast for the greater Crescent Mills CA area is less ominous than yesterday's. 11 inches on the low end and 19 inches on the high.
The nice thing about being a meteorologist is you can keep changing your mind!
PAM your shovels!

Roger that skepticism. It has dumped here before but how that happens doesn't seem to be part of the equation.
Interesting that the Forecast from Portland has a better explanation than what comes out of NWS Medford.

This website has a lot better credibility, some sliders to adjust for time and buttons for conditions. It's been a good predictor of wind through the fire seasons.

Forecasts say we're half way through the snow dump. Went out and measured 10 inches of really light fluffy powder.
Staying nice and warm right now at 30 degrees.

CalTrans QuickMap says I-5 closed a few miles above Redding. It was pretty silly with traffic accidents and spin outs, seems to have eased up a bit. One baretable came through town and that's all.
