Western Railroad Discussion > Non-UP locomotive leaders and PTCDate: 12/01/19 17:30 Non-UP locomotive leaders and PTC Author: SCAXEngr Does UP (or BNSF) require foreign locomotives that lead a train to have PTC? I enjoyed RailFan AZ's video of a MFWWC with a FXE locomotive (two in the lead consist) leading at Casa Grande, AZ a few days ago.
Thanks, SCAXEngr Date: 12/01/19 17:41 Re: Non-UP locomotive leaders and PTC Author: Big_Dude BNSF requires originating trains to have a PTC equipped leader if one is avilable, even if that engine needs to be turned. BNSF currently has interoprability with UP, NS, CSX, CN, and Amtrak. KCS and CP are the only two major carriers that aren't at the moment, but will be very soon.
