During my 10-day odyssey chasing the Big Boy I had to take care of some business with the widow of a friend of mine who recently passed away in Aurora, CO. It was the first day of full sunshine I’d seen, but I had to leave the 4014 behind in Sharon Springs. Murphy’s Railfan Law in action, I guess. I stayed the night in Limon and the next morning I took a quick snoop around before heading on into Aurora. I found this nice mural and of course paid a quick visit to the museum itself. I had hoped for a shot of the depot. But I forgot how barricaded in it was…

2. & 3. Equipment at the Limon Heritage Museum. You can just see a corner of the depot in image #3.

So how exactly does a Milwaukee Road Mixed Train Combine-Caboose end up stuffed and mounted in Limon, Colorado?
The nearest Milwaukee Road trackage is several humdred miles away!

Believe Cadillac & Lake City rail operation Limon towards Colorado Springs, CO, acquired the Milwaukee Road car for their Twilight Train rides.  C&LC faded from the now abandoned Limon to Colorado Springs line (track removed) and the Milwaukee Road car remained in Colorado.

What is the heritage of the other (blue) passenger car? Tim
