In the early/mid 1990s, EMD and GE delivered new units to the Santa Fe in the Super Fleet/revived warbonnet paint scheme. During that time, Summit in Cajon Pass made for easy shooting, offering good sun angles during the winter months.  The shots below didn’t make the cut for my earlier post

so I thought I’d post these as a small group rather than just deleting them.  I sure do miss the red-and-silver.

1.  Four Dash8-40CWs – 814, 845, 831, and 863 – are eastbound just west of the Summit station sign in December, 1992.

2.  Dash8s 937 and 847 plus 3 yellowbonnets are westbound at the east end of straight track in September, 1995.

3.  Dash9-44CW 667 leading an eastbound in March, 1995.

4.  SD75Ms 232 and 244 are eastbound at the grade crossing, January, 1996.

The "Super Fleet" really was super! That's the best paint scheme ever even if it was painted on a shoe box! Your photos prove it! "Santa Fe...all the way".

Delightful. Those 75Ms look amazing in red and silver!

Wow, they sure looked great. Hard to believe it was that long ago. In the it's small world category, I shot the same train ten minutes earlier than you near Hill 582.

Always thought the SD75M's were totally cool looking locomotives, maybe the best in Super Fleet paint.  Not that the GE's were bad.
