Snowy Puget Sound
Author: M-420

A pretty but chilly day here on the eastside today.Eastside Freight was out and about, but got only as far as Maltby (about half of it's 12 mile run from Woodinvile to Snohomish), due to downed trees.

1) Leaving Woodinvile and crossing Highway 522
2-3) Approaching Maltby

4-6) Maltby, WA

Thx for pix of "what a local is supposed to look like" (IMHO)  espacially with the caboose behind the engine, like we always used to do....

Sounds like it's time to start carrying a chainsaw or two in the caboose.

Great photos!  Small clarification that the railroad mark is ECYR, but it is operated by EFRX.

In that 2nd to last shot, why is the train in what looks like a siding?  The track looks like it ends, or disappears!

The train is on the siding, which parallels the main track for another few hundred years behind me in this view.
It's something of an optical illusion that makes the siding seem as if it goes nowhere.

The siding is overgrown with weeds and such and sits a bit lower than the main track. With the snow piled on top, the rails seem to vanish....

I was going to say (re: pics 5, 6) ... looks like they would have an easier time getting to Snohomish if they just used the tracks. :D
