Shouldn't you be looking at the headlights?  I thought it's what you guys do.

I was headed out the door to run down and p/u the mail (no local delivery here, it's all PO Boxes in Dutch Flat) and heard an EB grinding up from Gold Run.  There's a light dusting of snow this morning- might make for a nice photo- so I when back in for the camera.  I was surprised by 3 deer out on the tracks.  The sound of the shutter spooked 2 of them away, but this youngster stopped and stared for a moment...

The gardeners up here don’t much care for them. They call ‘em “Tick Flickers”.

The pack of coyotes watching us in Oregon while waiting on the Toledo Crawler got a little unnerving.  Maybe my fanning partner and I looked a little old and slow. ;-p

But, as they kept approaching with no apparent fear, we were considering hopping up in the bed of the rented pickup.  One of them dropped a deuce on the crossing, and they moved it along after that.  Probably the Alpha Male leaving us a message...

Most urban coyotes have zero fear of humans.

When I owned a farm in northern NY State we were bothered by a pack of Coyotes who were killing our calves. My farm manager shot 3 of them and hung the carcasses on trees at different points around the place and the rest of them got the word.

One of the best coyote repellants is to place a dead coyote where u don’t want a live one. I pick up dead ones on the road and put em along our ranch fences. Never lost an animal to predation yet.
