What am I doing? Farmrail Q
Author: BobE

So, AOK was a bust.....bad weather.

There was a GP30 parked at McAlester.

Shawnee was a bust.

Found the auto facility in OKC, but no public access where I could see the AOK units and denied permission to shoot from the driveway in front of security.

AT&L a bust.

Farmrail....I’m in Clinton. I don’t have the best of maps. I did find the yard east of downtown.

Any suggestions on what I should do tomorrow?

TIA

Well, I did Shawnee to Clinton last October.   Found a lot of power sitting around, but nothing moving.  I would never have imagined a town the size of Clinton having so many locomotives in it.   Took a lot of roster shots.

In Clinton, east of 183 south of Choctaw Ave and north of Modelle Ave is the loco facility and several yard tracks.  There were no less than 17 locomotives parked in this area.   North of town on Hwy 183/N 4th St there is an overpass over the tracks just west of the diamond and wye connections.  Gravel road access to this area just north of the overpass.  There were 3 locos parked near the diamond, and 3 more west at the small yard there.   If you follow Choctaw Ave west from downtown, it curves to the southwest along another yard, but there was no power there when I visited.

As for AT&L, found 3 locos at Geary and 6 more at Watonga, which is their HQ.  Those towns may be too far off your route.

Your best bet for AOK power is at Wilburton, OK.   The best place for Farmrail power in Clinton is at the shop off business I-40 (Choctaw Ave) on the far east end of town.
